Sugar Loaf Mountain Spinning Silver Contour Map Pendant

During lockdown 2020, Joe commissioned a beautifully unique 30th birthday gift for his partner; a handmade silver contour map of their home in Aberdeen with Sugar Loaf Mountain's impressive form overhead. A truly special memento of happy days hiking and home…

“I initially found Holly's work by chance, I was very glad to find she was still producing work (during lockdown) as it instantly struck a chord with me.

Being an outdoorsy person, at some point contour lines will become an integral part of your adventures, mainly because you need to know how steep a challenge is and whether you can do it! For me and My girlfriend they have become a symbol of living a life based around the outdoors and we never head out without our trusty maps.

To celebrate her turning 30 in lockdown and away from family, I wanted something special and that’s exactly what Holly delivered!

I chose Sugarloaf hill and the area we live in as the subject topography. Once Holly had sent me the proposal, I was a little unsure whether she would be able to take on such a task as  the contours were tightly packed and intricate, but she ok’d it without any qualms and set off making.

Right from the start Holly was honest, professional and communicated with me every step of the way. She managed to create something truly unique and innovative, as she crafted a new spinning concept, something she hadn’t produced for a client before.

The coordinates of our first date are stamped around the rim and the sugarloaf is the first hill we walked up in Abergavenny; it’s what made us fall in love with the place. The silver ball is the location of our first home together, everytime she wears it we reminisce about the past and look forward to our future together.

It’s a piece we will be passing onto the next generation as it is such a part of our history.”
