Table Mountain Contour Map Wall Art
WHEN JAKI MOVED BACK TO THE UK AFTER LIVING IN CAPE TOWN, SHE FOUND SHE MISSED ‘HER MOUNTAIN’ UNBEARABLY. SHE MAY NOT BE ABLE TO HIKE ITS FLANKS AFTER WORK NOWADAYS, OR BIKE IN ITS VALLEYS, BUT SHE CAN ADMIRE IT’S BEAUTY IN ANOTHER WAY EVERY MORNING WHEN SHE TAKES THE STAIRS.
Handmade from sheet copper, this map is approximately A3 in size (without mount) and has been given an antiqued finish, picking out the details in the contours and. Important locations around the edge of the map have been marked with hand-stamped copper labels.
“I lived and worked in Cape Town for 12 years. As a missionary, I worked with the homeless and within deprived township communities which was pretty tough. So when it came time for the weekend, I was ready to kick back and enjoy what this incredibly diverse city has to offer. I have hiked several routes to the top of the Table (Skeleton Gorge, Platteklip and Kasteelspoort). I've run the contour paths, jumped off Signal Hill, I've swum in natural lakes and fallen in love with the Lion's Head moonlight hike. I've had sundowners on Signal Hill and spent many a Saturday hiking the Pipe Track, Silvermine or Constantia Nek. An African told me that when you catch that African magic, it will never leave you. Cape Town has worked it's magic on me, and is now part of my soul. It's so amazing to have this contour map of Table Mountain which I have placed at the top of my stairs, so that my mountain will still greet me every morning.
Holly communicated well, and made sure that I was happy at all stages... I just love what she's created for me.”
